Because this last year has taught us that creating memories are more important than being busy all the time. Because I miss photographing real people.

BRAVE WOMEN RUN IN MY FAMILY

I remember the day I asked someone: “what makes an exceptional mum, and by definition, a woman?” When the response was “someone who puts herself last” - I went holy, mother, rainbows, and no! Just, NO! You’re kidding, right!??

But why should anyone think any different when that’s exactly what the world and the media is communicating to them? When that’s exactly what they’ve seen and experienced in their own lives?

Not a day goes by where I’m not grateful for the women in my world, who showed me that “you show up for yourself FIRST so that you can love and serve those around you from a place of overflow.”

It was a mentor who painted a picture of the path I was on, and showed me what I needed to address in order to change the outcome.
Brave woman showed me that you can correct someone with dignity & grace.

Once at a wedding, a family member pulled me aside and said: “look what you said was correct, but how do you said it was not honouring to the other person, and here’s why...”
Brave woman showed me that you can set an example with love & excellence.

During the hardest season of my life, it was my sister-in-law who reminded me that she will hold space for me while I figure out who I am, and who I am not. At a time when my behaviour was erratic and I tried to make sense of a tsunami of emotions, brave women showed me the power of extreme kindness & generosity, when I deserved it the least.

Amazing woman don’t just prioritise self-care, they also set standards, boundaries, and put in place a support system that will keep them accountable.

I’m still figuring it out, but of this I’m sure...

You deserve to put yourself first.
And there are people in your life counting on you to do just that!

Now tag those wonderful, talented, extraordinary women in your life, and thank them for showing up from a place of strength and abundance.✨🙎‍♀️

“How do you want to show up?” That’s all I’m asking of myself this year.

The goals and achievements will take care of itself when we have meaningful pursuits and I know for sure, that as long as we keep the main thing the main thing, everything else will work out just fine.

I hope that 2021 will bring you joy and fulfilment in every area of your life.
